PRIVATE TRAINING

Working toward YOUR goals in a supportive environment.

Exceed your own expectations.

“Working with Lisa was transformative. I’d been practicing Pilates for quite a long time – one session with her and she completely changed my practice. She helped me connect my breath and movement and unwound some bad habits – all of sudden skills that had always felt super hard were practically effortless. And she was so supportive. No judgement – just kindness.”

PRIVATE INSTRUCTION

During these ever-changing times, limited sessions are available online and in-person. Sessions can be focused on movement, mentoring or both.  Please contact Lisa to request a session.

Lisa believes in the importance of private instruction and wants to empower her clients to take charge of their own health and wellbeing.  Many aches and pains can be resolved by releasing muscles that are too tight, strengthening others that are relatively weak, and finding balance both in movement and rest.  Learning to move efficiently creates better posture, improves the balance of strength and flexibility, and greatly reduces the chance of injury. Lisa has a keen eye and decades of experience and is able to observe and correct postural imbalances with remarkable effects.

Sessions with Lisa focus on the needs and goals of the client. Typically Lisa starts with some assessments to better understand any aches, pains and postural issues, but she can also figure those things out during the scope of a more traditional workout as desired. Each session is personalized for the client using a combination of techniques based in Pilates, CoreAlign, neuromuscular re-educaton and more.

Lisa also offers private training and mentoring for Pilates & CoreAlign teachers. She has been teaching teachers for over twenty years, and believes in sharing knowledge, building community and focusing on positivity.

“When I came to see Lisa, I could barely walk. I had been training too hard in competitive ballroom dance and had more injuries than I could count. Within a few sessions with Lisa, I realized that I could actually get better. My injuries weren’t the death sentence I thought they were. Lisa explained that they were just my bodies way of getting my attention. She helped me understand how to keep myself safe and have the confidence to do what I love.  Years later I am a better dancer, and on my way to becoming a certified Pilates instructor.”

PILATES

Pilates is intelligent exercise. It challenges your mind and strengthens you from the inside out, enabling you to perform complex movements safely, with power and grace. It evolved from the principles of Joseph Pilates and can dramatically transform the way your body looks, feels and performs.

Pilates workouts aim to create a balance of strength and flexibility in the body through a series of exercises on the mat and equipment. Developing a strong mind-body connection and incorporating the Pilates principles (Breathing, Concentration, Control,  Centering, Precision, Balanced Muscle Development, Rhythm & Flow, Whole Body Movement, Relaxation) into a balanced workout, will lead to an increased level of body awareness that helps students translate their workout achievements to improved posture, strength and agility. COREALIGN

The Core Align is an incredible apparatus to train functional fitness by improving, balance, strength, and integration of movement.  It is an amazing system that honors the Pilates principles but brings the movement theory into a very practical upright application, and is appropriate for clients of all fitness levels as well as musculoskeletal rehabilitation.

Developed by physical therapist Jonathan Hoffman, the CoreAlign method improves posture, balance and functional movement in a unique way that is hard to describe but amazing to experience.  The Core Align has two moving carts that challenge posture and balance – the unstable surfaces stimulate core stability muscles to fire in perfect timing while performing practical and challenging exercises, very deep stretches and core controlled aerobic training.

Lisa trained directly with Jonathan Hoffman, and was instrumental in the curriculum development of the Core Align instructor training materials. She has trained many CoreAlign instructors and found great joy in seeing how the CoreAlign can improve the lives of her clients.

NEUROMUSCULAR RE-EDUCATION

The human body is complex and there are countless strategies to complete seemingly simple movements – most people have compensation patterns and/or postural issues that keep them from moving efficiently. Lisa has studied various neuromuscular re-education techniques, many based in the work of Vladamir Janda. The methods used in sessions are focused in retraining muscle systems to create efficient movement patterns, relieve pain, improve posture and enhance performance.
