Part mind-body, part cardio, part strength and totally unique - the CoreAlign improves posture, balance and functional movement in a fast-paced, challenging workout unlike anything else.
Developed by physical therapist Jonathan Hoffman, the CoreAlign method stimulates core stability muscles to fire in perfect timing while performing practical and challenging exercises, very deep stretches and core controlled aerobic training. The method is used for musculoskeletal rehabilitation, performance enhancement and as a regular sport for a healthy lifestyle. It is a perfect compliment to Pilates training, but can also be done independently.
At Agile Monkey, we are excited to be able to introduce the CoreAlign to the Santa Cruz community. We have three Master Instructors on staff (Lisa Graham, Arwen Brooke and Jeannette Normington), as well as many comprehensively trained Core Align instructors, and we offer annual instructor trainings and professional continuing education workshops. Lisa Graham (owner of Agile Monkey) was also instrumental in the curriculum development of the Core Align instructor training materials - she literally helped to write the book on the Core Align!
It is an amazing system that honors the Pilates principles but brings the movement theory into a very practical upright application, and is appropriate for clients of all fitness levels. As with our Pilates sessions, Core Align training can be used for fitness or rehab - Core Align is tremendously beneficial as a method of addressing and correcting postural challenges that can lead to pain and injury. You'll feel taller, more organized, centered and efficient in your movement patterns. It's truly a remarkable method of exercise
The Core Align is an incredible apparatus to train functional fitness: improving, balance, strength, and integration of movement.
Core Align can be combined with Pilates in a private setting, or practiced on its own. We also offer Core Align group classes, but we recommend doing an intro private if you are brand new to Core Align or Agile Monkey. Core Align is truly an amazing movement experience - you have to try it to understand how powerful it is.
