Dixie Mills

Dixie Mills has been teaching Pilates for more than twenty years. In 1993 Dixie became certified through the Pilates Center of Boulder, while pursuing an MFA in Dance Performance & Choreography from the University of Colorado. After graduating from both CU and The Pilates Center, Dixie got a chance to teach some of the healthiest and most athletic people in the country. The following year she moved to Seattle where she got a chance to stretch her rehab skills teaching at a studio near Microsoft. Dixie also worked with many teenagers in the Seattle area on building strength and coordination to support their sports or dancing pursuits (how wonderful to have the alignment, strength, flexibility, and connectedness that Pilates brings when you are young—please consider sessions for your teenager or college student!).

After 5 years of teaching clients, Dixie relocated to New York City, where she developed several continuing education workshops for Pilates teachers. She has since taught in Connecticut, New Jersey, Long Island, Philadelphia, Seattle, Virginia and Hawaii. Known as a teacher’s teacher, Dixie has great eyes for seeing the body’s quirks, and great hands and words for explaining how to reach your best potential.

Jeannette Normington

Senior Certified Pilates Instructor & CoreAlign Instructor.  

Jeannette Normington enjoyed an 18 year career as a professional dancer, touring the world performing in production shows. Pilates was instrumental in helping Jeannette prolong her dance career. Her certifications include, mat work at UNLV in 2001, Comprehensive Pilates training through Body Arts & Science International in 2003, Pre/Post-Natal at The Center for Women’s Fitness in 2006 and Core Align 1, 2 in 2008. Jeannette interned at the Keith Kleven Institute of Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation for Sports and Dance. To deepen her work, Jeannette is currently a part of a one-year mentorship program, “Passing the Torch” offered by Balanced Body, with master teacher, Tom McCook. Jeannette is passionate about sharing the benefits of Pilates for post-rehabilitation, athletic performance and quality of life - for clients and professionals alike.

A native to Santa Cruz, Jeannette is excited to share Pilates and contribute to creating wellness within her home community. In 2008, Jeannette opened her own business, Seascape Pilates where she offers quality instruction and diversity into her workouts combining BASI, Stott and Polestar methods. Jeannette is an avid sportswoman, also trained in tap, jazz, ballet, and yoga, lately enjoying Tai Chi and Qi Gong. She is dedicated to helping people of all ages achieve their maximum fitness potential and making people feel well cared for. Jeannette is honored to join the Monkey team, having always enjoyed Agile Monkey as a friendly, professional, and supportive studio.

Lana Dussell

Certified Instructor.
Lana is passionate about teaching Pilates with a focus on helping clients find strength and balance in their bodies. Originally from the Pacific North West, Lana grew up a year round athlete - playing soccer, golf, snowboarding and biking. After relocating to the Santa Cruz Mountains in 2006, Lana became an avid mountain biker and a friend recommended Pilates as a way to balance muscle development and promote flexibility throughout her body. After taking her first Pilates class she was thrilled to find that her body felt both challenged and centered by the Pilates repertoire. Lana continued to do Pilates mat work as part of a cross training program, but after suffering a hip fracture in a biking accident, Lana began to count on Pilates as an integral part of her rehabilitation and found that it offered unparalleled progress in pain relief and increased mobility. Pilates ability to simultaneous relieve and revive ones body, is the reason that Lana continues to preach the benefits of daily practice, which she has relied on heavily after the birth of both her children.
Lana approaches teaching from a strengths perspective, she wants clients to gain confidence and joy in their movement. Her goal is to provide clients with a session that leaves them feeling stronger, balanced, and more body aware. Lana believes that whatever your bodies need, Pilates can compliment and challenge your strengths, while addressing, and mitigating ongoing problems you may be experiencing. Lana is thrilled and honored to be part of the talented team at Agile Monkey Pilates studio and she looks forward to helping you on your Pilates journey.
Lana lives in the Santa Cruz Mountains with her husband and 2 young children. She enjoys cooking, biking, traveling, and entertaining friends and family over local food and wine.

The wall mounted springboards are a great way to get a total body workout utilizing springs based resistance (which can make exercises more achievable and also more challenging, depending on the circumstance and level of the class). The springboard repertoire was originally modified from the original Cadillac exercises, but has been expanded to include familiar favorites from the Mat and Reformer, as well as a lot of exercises you can’t do anywhere else. Most Springboard classes also include some Mat and & Props repertoire for flow.

Beginning/Intermediate - some Pilates experience strongly recommended. Beginning and Intermediate level exercises will be the focus (with any necessary modifications).
