Pilates for Irina is an adventure of physical and mental discipline. Irina was introduced to Pilates by her friend (and future teacher) in 2008. This event completely changed her life direction. Since then, she has been working on improving her body movement and physical capabilities.

Growing up in Russia, Irina always actively engaged in physical exercise like swimming, figure skating, running, tennis playing. After immigrating to America Irina experimented with many different workouts but never felt at home until discovering Pilates. After five years of practicing and learning how much Pilates has to offer, Irina, with the support and encouragement of her mentor enrolled in the 2013 Balanced Body Pilates Instructor training program. After broad training she graduated in 2015 and was certified in 2016.

Irina believes that Pilates is an improvement to anyone’s life style and she hopes to share this knowledge and experience with others. She understands the practice of Pilates can be of benefit to both teacher and client. Irina believes that Pilates is a life time journey. She is also aware that with practice she and her students are prepared to face the future with confidence.

Barb Imhoff

Certified Pilates Instructor.  

Barb Imhoff is an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner and Certified Pilates Instructor at Agile Monkey. She has been an avid Pilates practitioner at Agile Monkey since 2009, where she fell in love with the practice while working with Ky Carnell-Russell. Having Ky as her mentor has motivated her to pursue a second career as a Balanced Body Pilates Instructor.

Barb comes with a background in competitive bodybuilding and ballet, as well as Spanish Classical Flamenco (she was a dance company member for the Patri Nader Dances of Spain from 1988-1992). Her fascination for the mind-body connection and how Pilates has made a long-lasting improvement in her mental and physical well being has kept her craving for more. For Barb, "Pilates is my sanctuary, a place to leave my busy life at the door, to take a deep cleansing breath, focus and ground myself into the practice of the ultimate movement principles of Joseph Pilates". Observing the exceptional group of talented Agile Monkey Pilates instructors is also a motivating factor towards taking the next step of becoming a Pilates instructor. Barb's over 20 years of nursing experience, her hands on ability to care and nurture for others and how that relates closely to teaching Pilates has led her to pursue her Pilates Certification with Balanced Body, which she attained in 2015.

Barb's passions are her love for music and dance, physical activity, her family, her granddaughters, and her LOVE of Pilates at Agile Monkey.


High Energy Springboard & Cardio - All Levels
 
The High Energy class incorporates Pilates Springboard and High-Intensity Interval Training (HiiT), and ends with a restorative cool down. This type of training technique gives the client a proper warm-up and alignment prior to the cardio circuit.
HiiT is where you give 100% effort through quick, intense bursts of exercise, followed by short recovery periods. HiiT has been shown to burn fat over a short period of time and increases the resting metabolic rate for 24 hours afterwards.
DO PILATES, BURN FAT, INCREASE CONDITIONING, ENDURANCE and HAVE FUN! You will leave feeling energized and exhilarated!
 
This class is designed to support clients at all levels of ability who want to introduce a little more cardio challenge into their workouts, improve endurance, build strength and lose weight through the strategy of interval training. 
 
The wall mounted springboards are a great way to get a total body workout utilizing springs based resistance (which can make exercises more achievable and also more challenging, depending on the circumstance and level of the class). The springboard repertoire was originally modified from the original Cadillac exercises, but has been expanded to include familiar favorites from the Mat and Reformer, as well as a lot of exercises you can’t do anywhere else. Most Springboard classes also include some Mat and & Props repertoire for flow.

All Levels - Some Pilates experience strongly recommended but this class is open to all. The instructor will teach to the level of the students in the class, modifying exercises for less advanced students, and adding challenges for those that need the extra intensity in their workout. Clients with serious injuries or limitations, should first take an Introductory Private Session and/or seek the advice of an Agile Monkey instructor before taking any group class.
